Chocolate Does Good!
07.27.11
As part of the chocolate fest, you can attend the opening night dinner gala Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Anaheim White House restaurant in Anaheim to benefit Caterina's Club. Recently honored CNN as an American hero, owner Bruno Serato will offer a chocolate inspired four-course menu for the evening. (Bruno feeds 300 underprivileged kids every day.)
The four-course dinner starts with coco gnocchi, Italian potato and flour dumplings in a milk chocolate and cinnamon sauce; followed by a watermelon salad with fresh fruit and chocolate vinaigrette; the main course is poached salmon atop a white chocolate mashed potato puree paired with oven roasted filet mignon with a Bailey’s Irish cream and dark chocolate demi glace.
Then there's dessert: a cylinder of chocolate made from praline, semi-sweet dark chocolate and pride cream served with chocolate ganache.
The opening dinner gala costs $125 (plus tax and gratuity) and must be purchased in advance. You can purchase here.
Anaheim White House Restaurant is at 887 South Anaheim Blvd in Anaheim.

Wear to Where: Heatwave
07.27.11
A heatwave provides new challenges to your summertime wardrobe. During the hottest months of the year we all have our go to threads that provide us with the cool down we're looking for. Regardless of whether you believe in global warming or not I think we can all agree that it has been extremely hot lately. Coincidently I found myself in two of the warmest places this past week, I experienced both extremes: the severe dryness of Las Vegas and the humid sweat of Florida; here's what I learned.
It’s all about feeling like you’re naked without actually being naked. Stick with thin fabrics in loose silhouettes that don’t cling to the body. I love jersey tank dresses, silk-crepe rompers and cutoff denim shorts with flouncy tops. Steer clear of things like thick leather belts, winter weights, dark colors and anything you see for Fall in the stores right now.
Always wear sunscreen, walk on the shady side of the street, maybe go to the movies and you’ll be cool as a cucumber!
